The interior layout is now much improved, finished off in top end finishes and with exclusive fixtures, oozing laid back comfort and timeless style. The coastline inspired interior theme runs throughout the entire apartment with accent colours here and there adding some drama and interest.

Cosy Family Home Renovation

A typical 70s style house with a previously odd and problematic internal layout has been transformed into a modern open plan yet cosy family home. Unassuming exterior but wait until you step inside… My best before and after story for 2022! Nico, my partner, has exceeded himself as my project manager and budget controller, so a loud shout out to him. Thank you Allsure Plumbing for making our vision a reality and SQM Tiles & Flooring for our beautiful new floors. Daniels Interiors did a marvelous job on the window treatment too! Last but not least CRH Interiors for the stunning kitchen, study and renovated wardrobes!

Swartland Splendor Onnah Design

Swartland Splendour

Moorreesburg
This family farmhouse was recently renovated but dates back to 1882, no less! A sympathetic approach to the Cape Dutch architecture with a modern spin on interior layout, look and feel. Thank you to my sister and her husband for entrusting Onnah Design with the new design, following my advice and accepting my design thinking challenges. Well done to you both on choosing such stunning finishes, fixtures and colours. Contemporary yet timeless, allowing for plenty of flexibility in the future.

Holiday Villa Llandudno Sunset Avenue

Holiday Villa

Sunset Avenue, Llandudno

Holiday Villa renovation recently completed. Sunset Avenue, Llandundo. The design brief entailed increasing outdoor entertainment spaces, a new lap pool with timber decking, upgrading the bathrooms and kitchen and general interior design interventions for the entire house. The European client’s deep rooted love for Africa, especially Kenya and Cape Town, was the main source of inspiration for all things interior. The context of the magnificent setting, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, was also acknowledged through the use of several nautical décor pieces. Pops of colour throughout the house replaced the previously bland all white interior and exterior.

Bombay Bicycle Club BBC

The Bombay Bicycle Club (BBC)

Welcome to The new and improved Bombay Bicycle Club (BBC). This famous landmark on one of Cape Town’s busiest intersections just got a new lease on life. Known for being a bit wacky and ‘over the top’ venue the new interior is in keeping with this design approach, inspired by chaotic, colourful Bombay and bicycles in general. All shapes and sizes. It pays homage to owning a bicycle, riding one and aspiring to own one. The spaces celebrate happiness, humor and finding one’s balance in life and society. Non trendy paint colours and a busy mix of fabrics deliberately clash but in a fun and quirky way. If you wish to join the club, you are invited, basically.

Rosebank Renovation Onnah Design

Rosebank Renovation

Here is lovely renovation story, completed in the heart of Rosebank, Cape Town, South Africa. In direct response to the new normal: working from home and spending more quality time at home, both indoors and outdoors. An underutilized formal living space was converted into a functional WFH space neatly, sensitively separated from a dining space via a “colonial” type room divider. Two tall Oak cabinets framing a cottage pain window, provide impressive storage and display space in the office space. The room terminates in a stunning feature wallpaper with a tinted mirror in the hallway bouncing off light beautifully. An outdoor pool patio and a courtyard braai area also received a new lease on life with sensible seating with an improved flow between interior and exterior spaces. Lastly, both the guest and main bedroom were updated in a contemporary yet classic style, a perfect fusion of the clients personal style and taste.

Beautiful Backyard

The design brief: Replace the existing pool with a larger pool in a more ideal and sunny location on the site. Introduce an outdoor kitchen leading down to a sunken wet-room with a new sauna adjacent. The new timber deck was extended down to enclose the water tank and irrigation plant room. This new backyard is truly a feast for the eyes.

Beach Villa

Living on the beach, literally ! A large family home in the Strand received a welcome makeover late last year. Allfence was the dream team that made it all happen and with contributors such as Renovation zone responsible for the beautiful joinery and Cara Saven Wall Design for stunning wallpaper, the vision for the property ‘s new identity became an easy reality. Once again, a huge thank you to my clients for their faith, trust and patience during what was a rather fast paced project! And Muchas gracias to Karl Rogers Photography for capturing the essence of this beach inspired, now Villa! 🏖️🍸📸

lock up and go

Lock up and go

So happy to share this story of a successful apartment renovation with you all. The project was supposed to start March 2020. No need to remind you that that is when Covid hit our shores, so we were forced to wait until Lockdown level 3 before we could start. The German clients, by then, returned home, so the entire project proceeded with them being in Europe and us communicating only via e mail and whatsapp. They returned to SA around August 2020 and have not left since, too happy with their new apartment 🙂 They made me a beautiful album with before, during and after photos of the project, as thank you. But it is I who am so grateful to Petra and Till, for appointing ONNAH DESIGN and investing so much faith and trust in me to see this through. Herewith the story in pictures. Thank you to my A team who made it happen and to Mathew Van Niekerk for the beautiful photos!

Sunset Links Golf Estate Onnah Design Architecture

Sunset Links Golf Estate

A U shaped courtyard house with stunning views over the Sunset Links Golf Estate and of Table Mountain underwent some alterations and additions. The scope entailed converting an outdoor gazebo into a multipurpose room on ground floor, upgrading the kitchen and braai patio, adding pergolas on both levels as well as a new artist studio upstairs. The living space and main bedroom also received new bulkheads and lighting, adding warmth and character. A new colour palette throughout with sensitive landscaping completes this pretty picture.
